What is Path finder in Adobe Illustrator?

Before we discuss about pathfinder let's first read about Adobe Illustrator.

What is Adobe Illustrator?

Adobe Illustrator is a software which supports vector graphics.

It is marketed by Adobe Systems, initially it was developed for Apple Macintosh in 1985, now it is a part of Adobe Creative Cloud.

Adobe Illustrator provides us many tools like:
  • Move
  • Pen
  • Eraser
  • Gradient, etc.

Using these tools we can design:
  • Illustrations
  • Typography
  • Office Stationery like visiting cards, letterheads, envelopes, designers can also design flyers, banners, posters and much more.

What is Pathfinder Tool?

One of the most important and helpful tools in this application is Pathfinder tool. But do you know what does it actually do? No, don't worry. Let's see.

  • Pathfinder tool simply combines the path of two different shapes which are editable.
  • The Panel of this tool has two options Shape mode and pathfinder.
  • In shape mode we have Unite, Minus front, Intersect and Exclude.
  • In this option, we have divide, merge, trim, crop, outline and minus back.
  • All these options help us to make a single shape with two different shapes.
  • Apart from this, we can also able to customize and edit different shapes together in an easy and neat way.
  • It specially makes geometrical shapes to combine together and edit them.

So, isn't it very useful?
